I totally support Niggli&Niggli's concept of new World Cup (Vinogradov Mike)

For the moment World Cup system doesn't have any logic, it is just an eclectic mix of different competitions. There are a lot of top runners who skip some races or all of them (except WOC, of course). But now famous people in Orienteering - Matthias and Simone Niggli have generated excellent ideas to reanimate IOF World Cup.

About touch free systems and punching trainings

Punching at control is an element of action system during O-competitions. Fortunately, now we can see that touch free systems are spread out around the O-world. And I hope that quite soon runners will not care about time lost while punching. But for the moment it is useful to test and improve these skills sometimes.

Mess with control order at last women leg during Tiomila 2014 (Updated)

Usually Tiomila level of organiztion is perfect. But this year I have to report about one big fault. Order of controls at the end of last women leg was 21-23-22-24. What is correct way to react for such situation??? Rules tell "Competitors who visit controls in the wrong order shall be disqualified". In my opinion correct order means 1-2-3-4-..-21-22-23-24. And this happens at the cricual moment of women relay.

Great day - January 27

70 years ago The Siege of Leningrad ended. Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) was blocked by Nazi troops in September 1941. Hitler's plan was to destroy the city and kill all (almost three millions) inhabitants. The 872 horrible days of the siege caused unparalleled famine in the Leningrad. Millions of people were without water, electricity, steam, sewage, and food supplies. This resulted in the deaths of up to 1,500,000 soldiers and civilians.
